Complete Brake Service Near You
Your brakes are the most important safety system on your vehicle. When they start showing signs of wear — squealing, grinding, pulling, pedal pulsation or a soft pedal — getting them inspected quickly isn’t just smart maintenance. It’s how you protect yourself, your passengers and everyone else on Route 6 and the roads around the SouthCoast.
At Midas Fairhaven we provide complete brake repair service from our shop on Huttleston Ave — brake pad replacement, rotor replacement, caliper inspection and service, brake fluid flush and ABS system diagnosis. Every brake service begins with a thorough inspection, so you know exactly what your vehicle needs before any work begins.
We work on all makes and models, domestic and import, cars and trucks. Whether you drive a Honda Civic to work, an F-150 for the job, or a minivan full of kids to school in Fairhaven, Acushnet or Mattapoisett, our technicians will give you an honest assessment and get your brakes back where they need to be.
Walk-ins are welcome. Appointments are recommended and easy to schedule—call (508) 858-5722 or book online below.
Qualifying brake parts installed at any Midas location are covered for as long as you own your vehicle—at any Midas nationwide. Pads and shoes included.

Signs Your Brakes Need Service Now
Brakes rarely fail without warning. Your vehicle will tell you when something is wrong, and knowing what to look and listen for can prevent a minor repair from becoming a major one. If you’re noticing any of these around Fairhaven, Acushnet or New Bedford, bring your vehicle in.
SouthCoast driving conditions matter. New England winters, road salt and stop-and-go traffic on Route 6 accelerate brake wear, and coastal air is harder on brake hardware than inland driving. If your vehicle is more than a year past its last brake inspection, now is the right time — especially heading into winter.
Brake Services in Fairhaven, MA
Every brake job at Midas Fairhaven starts with a complete inspection. You’ll know exactly what we found and what we recommend before we start any work.
Brake Pad Replacement
We carry brake pads for all makes and models — ceramic, semi-metallic, and OEM-equivalent. Pad replacement is the most common brake service and often the most time-sensitive. We’ll match the right pad to your vehicle and driving habits.
Rotor Replacement
Warped or heavily scored rotors cause vibration and reduce braking effectiveness. We’ll measure your rotors and recommend replacement if they’ve worn below safe limits.
Caliper Service
Sticking or seized calipers cause uneven pad wear, pulling, and increased fuel consumption. Caliper inspection and service is part of every complete brake job at this location.
Brake Fluid Flush
Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which lowers its boiling point and reduces stopping power — especially during hard stops. A fluid flush restores full hydraulic pressure and is recommended every two years.
ABS System Diagnosis
An illuminated ABS warning light means your anti-lock braking system needs attention. We’ll scan for fault codes and diagnose the specific cause—whether it’s a wheel speed sensor, ABS module, or another component.
Free Brake Inspection
Not sure if your brakes are due? Bring it in. We’ll inspect your entire brake system — pads, rotors, calipers, lines, fluid level, and hardware — and give you a straight answer with no pressure to buy anything that isn’t needed.
When Do You Need New Brake Pads or Rotors?
As a certified technician, I check brake pad thickness on every vehicle that comes through our bay. Most brake pads start around 10–12mm thick when new, and we recommend replacement when they wear down to about 3–4mm — that’s roughly the thickness of two stacked quarters. Below that, you’re into the metal backing plate, which will damage your rotors and create dangerous stopping distances.
Modern rotors are manufactured thinner and lighter than older vehicles to reduce weight and cost, so by the time your pads are worn, the rotors often don’t have enough material left to safely resurface. I measure each rotor against the minimum thickness specification stamped on the rotor itself — every rotor has a different spec depending on make and model.
If your rotors show deep grooves you can catch your fingernail in, visible heat cracks, or warping that causes brake pedal pulsation or measure at or below minimum thickness, we replace them with the pads. Installing new pads on worn rotors means uneven contact, reduced braking power, and you’ll be back in a few months with the same problem.

Brake Repair FAQ
Straight answers to the questions we hear most at the Fairhaven shop.
It depends on what your vehicle needs. A standard brake pad replacement typically runs $150 to $300 per axle, depending on pad type and vehicle. If your rotors need replacement, the cost goes up accordingly. The best way to know is a free inspection—we'll tell you exactly what we find and what it costs before any work starts. Call (508) 858-5722 or stop in at 178 Huttleston Ave.
A standard pad replacement on one axle usually takes 1 to 1.5 hours. If rotors need replacing or we find additional work, plan on 2 to 3 hours. We’ll give you a realistic estimate when you drop the vehicle off, and we won’t keep it longer than necessary.
Most manufacturers recommend an inspection at least once a year or every 12,000 miles. Given New England road conditions—salt, potholes, stop-and-go traffic—we'd suggest not going longer than a year. And if you’re hearing squealing or grinding, or the pedal feels soft, don’t wait for the interval.
Not necessarily. Brakes are serviced by axle, front and rear, not always all four. Front brakes usually wear faster because they handle more of the stopping force. We’ll inspect all four and tell you what actually needs attention. We won’t recommend replacing brakes that don’t need it.
Squeaking is the early warning—the pad wear indicator is contacting the rotor. You’re likely fine for a short while, but schedule service soon. If it turns to grinding, that’s metal on metal and your stopping power is compromised. At that point bring it in right away.
Yes. Qualifying brake parts installed at Midas Fairhaven are covered by the Midas Limited Lifetime Parts Guarantee™ for as long as you own your vehicle, at any Midas nationwide. Ask our service desk for full details.
